Roof versus floor decks – aren’t they alike? Not exactly. Fabricators manufacture floor decks, often called a composite metal deck, to accommodate concrete. An embossed pattern on the vertical side of the corrugated metal deck encourages the concrete to adhere well to the deck. Together the floor deck and concrete provide the vertical load capacity required for a project. Steelfab Inc. fabricators work with your engineers to manufacture the floor deck profile to meet your needs.
Roof decks or non-composite metal decks do not need the embossed pattern. These corrugated metal roof decks, designed to hold insulation and roofing material, provide diaphragm strength as well as vertical load capacity and can be manufactured to a profile required by your application. Builders then apply rigid board insulation over the deck and add roofing.
